How Many Of You Are There?

I hope you all had a really great weekend. Mine was not too shabby. I got a large reorder from one of my wholesale accounts so I will be writing short blogs this week. Not to worry, I will try and keep up.

I wanted to see how many people I actually have reading this blog. I show 421 readers in Blogger and another 500 or so e-mail subscribers but I do not seem to be getting that amount of feedback. So, today, I would like for you to make a comment or send me an email.

What I would really like is a list of questions you'd like answered on this blog. I am a busy man. I have an Etsy shop for Tangled Metal my jewelry and art, an Etsy shop for Market My Shop eBooks, a brick and mortar shop and I wholesale to 35 US shops and 10 in Canada. The busier I get the harder it is for me to keep coming up with ideas for blogs.

So, if you have two minutes to spare, please leave a comment on what you'd like to know about Etsy, Google, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. Or send me an email to MarketMyShop@gmail.com

  1. I read your blog, but mostly lurk without posting comments or asking questions. :-)

I'm trying to expand my Facebook likes and don't want to preach to the Etsy choir (so I don't encourage other team members to like my on Facebook) I'm looking for ways to entice my shoppers to like so they can see new listings and specials. Any advice?

    1. You could do this a couple of ways. The first is with paid advertising. I have an eBook just for Facebook Advertising in my Etsy shop. That is pretty quick and very targeted. The other way is organically get followers. Of course, getting followers by this method is ofen times very slow but you have a better chance of getting the best followers that way.

  2. I do read and appreciate you sharing your knowledge. My question is how do you find the time for all the social media updates??? I barely have time to create and keep up my etsy shops and other sales let alone spend more time on the computer than I already do.

    1. As I mentioned below, scheduling posts is very helpful. Budget a block of time to create 10 FB posts in a week. Make sure they get posted over to Twitter. You can also schedule your Twitter posts with some additional programs.

  3. I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep up with your blog once Google takes away Google Reader this July.

    1. I had no idea that Google was going to take their reader away. There are several great readers out there but one sure way to keep up is to sign up for the email version of my blog.

    2. There is something called Bloglovin. Not sure if the blogger has to changeover subscribers from Google Reader, or if the subscriber has to do it themselves. Several weekends ago, Bloglovin crashed because so many people were switching over. I think Google Reader will be discontinued early to mid June. So best not to wait until the last minute!

  4. I also read but rarely comment. I am in a bit of a funk right now, feeling that the time I spend on social media could be better spent creating more inventory.
Is there such a thing as Social Media burnout?

    1. Of course there is such a thing as Social Media burnout. That is one reason the article I wrote on scheduling posts is very helpful. You can literally write a weeks worth of posts on Sunday and then not have to worry with anything but the comments.

  5. Another faithful reader, yet lackey commenter.

How do you keep content "fresh" between social media outlets? Right not my FB posts automatically feeds to Twitter, but I randomly tweet stuff that is never seen on FB. But I struggle to find the time to post in/on all venues without feeling like I'm saying the same thing or running out of things to say.

    1. Amanda,

One idea is to post completely unrelated material on Twitter such as famous quotes or just retweet some of your fellow tweeters content. Just be sure that what you retweet is something you approve of. This is a good case of where a plan of action really comes into play. Look for a blog post very soon about just that.

  6. I hope that when the Google Reader disappears, we'll still be able to "follow by email." If not, I'm likely to lose track of all your helpful tips. I have some blogs saved in Google Reader, but I ***never*** go look at them. I'd have to figure out how to even get there (no doubt I'd Google how to do that ... LOL!).
